Artists’ statement:

“The Organism is defined by its ability to fold it’s own parts, and to unfold them….enveloping, developing involution – evolution .”   Deleuze, The Fold.

This series of paintings attempts to fathom the often elusive  memories’ that escape interpretation. Memories are a net, holding and weaving that which is close to the heart – those of feelings and rhythms, a sense of wonder, a space for remembrance.

A photograph registers the folds of a cloth draped over a body. It also highlights an area at the base of the skull where organs responsible for recollection of memory are found.

Formally, the folds could resemble an external skeleton, the head and hands lay quietly, as if passing between breaths, paying homage, before shedding a skin.
