Artists’ Statement:
Clay speaks to me, it records my fingerprints and it transforms my ideas to work, which reflect my philosophies, my views of life and my concerns, especially those that are close to my heart.
I like my work to communicate easily, without much further explanation.
In this piece I am expressing our connectedness, the great importance of our relationships and our need for each other.
I find the boat a wonderful metaphor for journey through life and time. The people and animal people, who are forming the sail, are to show that we are all linked in our destiny, sharing the same past, present and future. I believe that support and care for one another forms the basis of our existence. In my opinion, people and animals a have much in common, we are fellow travellers caught in the net of life and time on our beautiful planet.
