Artists’ Statement:

Having been born into a family of artists, art and design have always been “Close to the Heart”. I am fascinated by colour, texture, line and form, and find distortion of the latter particularly exciting.

Inspiration for my work, both paintings and ceramics, often stems from my love of the natural environment, its patterns and shapes. In recent years my paintings have been greatly influenced by linear aspects of architectural design, and both the simple and complex lifestyles of humanity. These recent paintings began with colourful glimpses of life within the structures which are becoming increasingly simple as my work progresses.

They can now also be interpreted as an aerial perspective of the urban landscape.

I believe in the simple pleasures of life, that ‘less is more’, and for honesty in art one must paint from the heart.
