As a teen I discover the MOIST
NORTHWEST coast of N. America.
I grew up near Redondo Beach CA; moved to Topanga Canyon; student at
California State University Northridge; California College of Art and
Crafts, Oakland; to Portland 1965, with my unborn baby and my husband
attending art school.
After divorce, moved to family¨s 80 acres forested homestead 40 miles N.E.
of Portland up the Washougal River, WA. drainage area, Mt. Hood in the
distance, Upper Washougal Canyon at our feet. I lived two decades there
gaining spiritual awareness deep search with new understanding of the
connectedness of all things, thirty-some years later moving to yet another
level within.
IT¨S CLEAR I HAVE A VERY DEEP CONNECTION TO THE EARTH. LOOKING BACK AT MY
ART
I SEE THE BIRTH OF MY ONLY CHILD AND LIVING IN THE WOODS INFLUENCED MY
ARTWORK FOR DECADES.
Recent travels to Asia have made me aware of my desire to enter the
mystical connection with rocks, soil and moss. When I fly, I scan every
mile of the earth below from my window, so aware of the effect rocks,
earth, bark, and dirt are having on my images, drawings, jewelry,
paintings, and prints, and making sense to me. Website: www.mmjanovec.com
