| International Mother's Day-Message from INWAC President- Yuen Chee Ling |
To all international
women artists, International Women's Day (8 March) is an occasion for women from various regions of the world to come together to celebrate and to look back into the history of the 900 years of women’s struggle for equality, justice, peace and development. The increasing awareness of womanhood is due to the propaganda of women’s movements and the many women’s conferences and campaigns to protect women’s rights. In the past, women’s issues were mostly related to politic, economy and social, issues related to the sensitivities, individual ideas and feelings have never been regarded as serious topic for discussion. “Freedom of expression“ as an important aspect of human rights has been neglected. It is time for us to seek the true meaning of equality. The way we look at ‘Art’ is conditioned by our perception of ‘beauty’. Man’s perception is different from a women’s perception and likewise for women artists from the east and west. The role of International Women Artists Council (INWAC) is to foster the awareness of women’s art and to encourage the women artists from various region of the world, to express their truthful and honest self through art. Her Presence In Colors Exhibition series I to VI held in Beijing, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Sheffield (UK) , and Melbourne (Australia) reflect the urge to seek for self identity and more space for self expression. It is our belief that Women’s art reflects the unique sensibilities of women and their aspirations for life, art and aesthetics. It will help to remind people of the waning love for peace and humanity. This year, Her Presence In Colors VII – International Women Artists Exhibition- Korea will be held at the Dague Art Center, Dague on September 25 to October 1. Women artists from various regions of the world are welcome to contact the chairperson of their respective countries for registration, or write to us through our website: ART-HER.COM. Happy Women’s Day to all !
