“As the Beijing Olympiad 2008 has a prestigious beginning on the 8th of the 8th month in 2008. I wish boundless and limitless peace for our world symbolised by 8, infinity, moving swiftly through the colour spectrum mirroring the swiftness of the athletes in the Olympiad.” Born in London, from age 7-18 years old I attended an art school I leaving to train as a Social Worker. Completing my Art Foundation and BSc in Textile Design at University of Huddersfield (1998). From 1999-2004 I initiated and ran annually the ‘Abbeyfield Park Multicultural Festival’ and was awarded a national ‘Community Cohesion Award’ from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Currently I am completing my art practice based PhD on ‘The Impact of cultural experiences on the work of British Chinese Artists-relationships with the natural world and spirituality’, at Manchester Metropolitan University where I am a member of the ‘Social, Environmental & Art’ Research Centre. In 1999 I was invited to exhibit in the International Women Artists exhibition ‘Her Presence in Colours IV’ in the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, Bangkok, Thailand. I was invited to the inaugral meeting of the ‘International Women Artists Council’ and to become Chair of INWAA-UK. I then curated and exhibited in the 2002 UK international women’s art exhibition and subsequently in Australia (2004) and South Korea (2006).
I have
work in the permanent collections of the Irish Embassy, London and
Sheffield Libraries and was the U.K. artist in residence for the Fukuoka
Asian Art Triennale, 2006. I have had several solo exhibitions including
‘East-West, Spirit, Earth’ Sylvester Space, Sheffield, U.K. 2007
combining fine art with performance. In 2007 I was awarded the ‘Lord
Mayor Woman of Inspiration-Entertainment and the Arts’. Please visit my
