Artist Statement

Art has always been in my life, I grew up with colors, ideas, passion and great courage.
being able to paint and create or speak through art is a blessing to me, to me painting is like putting make up, many thinks that painting brings peace and love to the world, and artist plays such a big roll by giving and creating, but deep down i know that I am not that "big", I am allow to create and paint today simply just because that I am lucky to be born in a country with no war. Therefore, I do not see myself great being a painter, I will only think that I am great being blessed with a peaceful country, loving family, caring friends and a tomorrow full of hopes and joy. My goal is to give what i can to people who's in need, it does not matters if is not through art.

Yap Jian Yi, graduated Bachelor degree in Japanese Painting , she was awarded recipient of full schorlarship of 1st International High School art competition in 1993.  1993 to 2005  she was the winner in Modern Calligraphy Sho-Do Yen exhibition, Tokyo,  the  60th Takasaki Citizen Art Competition, Japan,  she won Gold in The 99th International Emperor Yan art competition, China and  Silver Award in The International Fine Art exhibition, Japan. Since 1997 she had held 5 solo exhibitions in Malaysia and Japan, including "The Cat" art exhibition, Cat Museum Kuching, Malaysia. (2002 ) , "Fortune & Prosperity" art exhibition, Cat Museum Kuching, Malaysia (2004 ) and "Cat. love. Life" exhibition of heart, Gaku Gallery Tokyo, Japan (2007). Selected group exhibitions : "Father & Daughter exhibition"in Japan, Tahiti, Taiwan, Malaysia, China;  "East meet West art symposium" in Carei, Romania- "Ludvig art symposium" in Hungary. Her works are in the collection of Club Med Kabira, Japan， Kuching Cat Museum, Jane Yap private gallery, Malaysia,  SGM Malaysia,  Takasaki Art Center College, Japan, and many  private collectors in China, Malaysia, Tahiti, USA, Japan.

叶健一毕业于日本高歧艺术短期大学，荣获日本第一届国际 中学绘画比赛奖学金（1993）。曾多次参加比赛获奖， 其中包括日本现代书法比赛优胜者，日本第99届炎帝国际绘画比赛获金奖及国际纯美术比赛获银奖。1997年-2007之间，在马来西亚，日本， 中国举办个展共有5次。 作品曾经在日本，台湾，大溪地，马来西亚， 中国及 英国画廊/美术馆展出。典藏她的作品的包括古晋猫博物馆-叶健 一私人画廊，马来西亚创价文化馆，日本高崎艺术中心学院及世界各地包括日本，美国和中国私人收藏家。
