This painting is dreamlike and peaceful. I named it before hearing about the exhibition. It is reminiscent of views experienced whilst living in Albert Park, on the edge of Melbourne, next o Port Philip Bay. I used many floating symbols and apparent objects to create a window effect, while retaining an absence of definite structure. It is a dream of peace, drawing on the beauty of life and the ideal. I symbolize world cultures with a sense of balance and harmonic peace with each other. As cultures we are individual and unique. Yet we need not clash, but blend our unique personalities without forgetting them. |

Born 1962 in Auckland and moved to Australia at the age of two. She now resides in India. Mylene Tidyman ‘s art was an expression of visions. She often imagined that there were beautiful people who live on the moon. These mysteriously beautiful people often appear in her paintings. Self-trained, she developed a unique style direction. Traveling, she marveled at the statues and buildings of France. Later she frequented Singapore, Malaysia and India-whose cultures appeared in her art. As one art analyst wrote, “She draws on symbolism from Asian and European cultures, yet retains her own.” Mylene has remained quite private over the years with her art. Mostly private collectors have acquired her works, several times by commission. Puan Ratna Siti Akbari, the curator of the Petronas Gallery in Kuala Lumpur has commented about the painting “Melbourne Dream” : “It is architectural, but not architectural. It is formal, but not formal—an interesting paradox.”
