Artist Statement

The Sound of Harmony 和谐之声

Bian Baohua was born in 1936. Bian first graduated from the High School Affiliated to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1957 and went onto to graduate from the Chinese Painting Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1962. She has the experience of being tutored by renowned Chinese master artists, such as Ye Qinyu, Jiang Zhaohe, Xiaoshufang, Li Keran, Li Kuchan and etc. Amongst Bian’s studies she has studied the landscape painting and bird-flower painting, but also specialized in Chinese fine painting of figure and the spontaneous style painting, Xie Yi.

After graduation, she worked in the National Museum of China. Bian discerned a great deal of the distillate of Chinese ancient cultural relics, such as the ancient articles of daily life and products, the bricks of Qin Dynasty, the tiles of Han Dynasty, the bronze wares of Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and so on. She was inspired by the exquisite skill, the exclamatory art styles and designs. She has worked best at representing it in new art ways. She would like to enhance the love and the understanding of the audience to our nation with a long history from the side of art.

Presently she is the researcher at China National Museum of Art, a member of Beijing Artists Association and the director of Beijing Paintress Friendship Association.

边宝华，1936年生人。1957年毕业于中央美术学院附中，1962年毕业于中央美术学院国画系。得益于著名绘画大师叶浅予、蒋兆和、萧淑芳、李可染、李苦禅等诸位先辈的悉心教诲，既学了山水画和花鸟画，又专攻了写意和工笔人物画。

毕业后在中国国家博物馆工作。期间，目睹了大量古代文物精华，无论是展出的古代科学家、文学家等历史人物，还是生产生活用品或秦砖汉瓦、商周铜器，那令人惊叹的艺术造型、精湛的制作技巧都深深地激励着画家,设法用新的艺术形式表现出来。让观众对有着悠久文化历史的中华民族，从绘画这个侧面增加了认识并更深的热爱。

现为中国国家博物馆副研究员、北京市美术家协会会员、北京女美术家联谊会理事。
