Bahuang (alias Cai Rong), member of the China Artists' Association and the Beijing Writers Association, was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. She graduated from the Central Academy of Theatre majoring in stage design, taught in the Central Academy of Theatre, now is an art editor in China Film Archive, executive editor and journalist of fine art in China.

Her oil painting works were shown in the 2nd National Youth Art Exhibition (oil painting "Flow" won the bronze prize), 7th National Art Exhibition, Art Exhibition of the Invited Chinese Female Painters, Art Exhibition of the Chinese Female Painters, Chinese Contemporary Famous Figure Paintings Exhibition, and Oriental Artists WorksExchange Exhibition. Personal shows of oil paintings were held in London and Hong Kong. Her works were collected by China National Art Museum, Italian, British, Dutch, and Singaporean art institutions and individual connoisseurs. In 1980s, she traveled alone in Tibet for art and humane investigation. Her artistic book Temptation of the Sunshine and Wilderness received 2nd prize at the 2nd National Competition of the Best Publications for Women. Her Travel Through the Ancient Civilization of Tibet was awarded the Golden Vessel as one of "the Best Works from Mainland China". Her Ruins and Glories: A Journey to Ancient Civilization in Ngari, Tibet was awarded the 3rd prize of Chinese Nationality Book. In 1995, as a painter, she was interviewed by CCTV column “Oriental Descendants”. She held personal art seminars twice in Beijing, won high reputation in the art circle and among the academics.

She created the Ba Huang Art Studio website www.bahuang.com, and published 20 Chinese Oil Painters: Ba Huang and 50 Chinese Oil Painters: Ba Huang.

巴荒（蔡蓉），1953年生于成都，中央戏剧学院舞美系毕业。历任大学教师、记者和编辑。

中国美术家协会会员，北京作家协会会员，高级编辑。

作品于中国美术馆参加“第2届全国青年美展”（油画《流》获铜奖），“第7届全国美展”等多种展览，并先后在伦敦和香港举办个展。作品被收藏于中国美术馆及意大利、英国、荷兰、新加坡等与海外。

80年代独行西藏边寨艺术人文考察，所著大型个人艺术著作《阳光与荒原的诱惑》获銀奖、《废墟与辉煌》获中国民族图书铜奖、《西藏古文明之旅》获台湾金鼎奖（并受邀访台）。

1995年为央视《东方之子》采访报道。在京两度举办个人艺术著作的专题座谈会，为艺术界和学术界专家学者高度评价和赞誉。
