Artist Statement My work often references the landscape of my country, Australia, the intimacy of domestic still life objects and the scale relationships between these two genres. To create images, reflect on, and ‘dream of peace’ within these spheres is a privilege I treasure. 我的画作是以澳大利亚的本土风景和静物为蓝本，风景和静物两者形态上的分别和两者的关系成为我创作“和平之梦”的理念，我很荣幸能以这些图象来反映“和平之梦”。 |

Victoria Howlett (born 1945) is an artist, educator, mentor, Co-counsellor and parent. Education includes current candidature for PhD, Monash University, Melbourne, Master Fine Art, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Bachelor Fine Art, Victoria College of the Arts, Trained Technical Teacher’s Certificate, Toorak Teachers College, Diploma of Art - Ceramics, RMIT Howlett’s work encompasses ceramics, painting and mixed media. She has taught for many years in tertiary art institutions and is currently Co-ordinator Visual Arts, Australian Academy of Design and Lecturer Ceramics RMIT.Her work includes Arts Victoria Residencies; Bundanon Residency, Various Commissions, Videos, Papers, Artist Field Trips, Workshops, Advisory Panels etc Received Honours and Awards include Australia Council Grant, Arts Victoria Grant, Shell Contemporary Art Award, Mayfair Award, Potters’ Cottage Award, Diamond Valley Award, John Storey Memorial Scholarship, Commonwealth Scholarship, State Exhibition Award, Howlett has produced approximately 30 Solo Exhibitions in several Australian states and is currently represented by Stephen McLaughlan Gallery, Melbourne. Group Exhibitions (approximately 250) include juried and curated shows in London, Italy; Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia; AETA, ASEAN, USA, Alice Springs, Regional Galleries in Wollongong, Sale, Bathurst, Adelaide, Newcastle, Ballarat, Castlemaine, Mildura, Manly; Skepsi, IWAAA, High Court, Canberra; National Gallery of Victoria, Australia Council, RMIT, University of Melbourne, ACAF, Distelfink, Her work is in several collections including National Gallery of Victoria; National Gallery, Canberra; Art Gallery of South Australia & Western Australia; Powerhouse, Sydney; Manly Art Gallery, Sydney; Parliament House, Canberra; Australian Embassy, Iran; State Craft Collection; Art Bank; various Australian Regional State Galleries, Government Departments, Educational Institutions, Council and private collections.
