Artist statement Clouds are truly magic, something we can all share and enjoy. Watching the ever-changing patterns and kaleidoscope of colours in the skies is something people all over the world have in common and can appreciate. Something that no price can be put on; no person can be excluded on the basis of race or wealth. Gazing at the sky can take you out of yourself to see the bigger spiritual picture of life. 云彩是真正魔术，大家都喜欢它。全世界的人都可以一同欣赏到天空不断在改变它那万花筒式的颜色。那可是金钱，财富和权势也不能取代的东西。凝视天空能把人带引到更广阔的精神境界。

Fay Salmon was born in the 50’s on a farm near Colac in Victoria, Australia. Fay now lives in Melbourne with 4 million people but she remains influenced by the light, the landscape and skies of the rural area. Fay, a self taught realist artist, moved to Bendigo when her two children were small and completed the Fine Arts Degree at LaTrobe University winning the Ken Dunne Award for Best Photography student in 1993. Fay has been part of many solo and group exhibitions amongst them; Maened Gallery, Jingili Studio, Balwyn Community Centre, Balwyn Crossection, Guilford Hotel, The Fitzroy Gallery, and in 2006 participated in Her Presence in Colours VII, Australian Chapter, at the Manningham Gallery, Doncaster. Her paintings are held in gallery collections in USA and Canada and private collections in Melbourne, Bendigo, Scotland and Hong Kong. Although Fay predominately paints in oils these days she has previously created sculpture, collage, photography, acrylic, pencil and ink. She has taught many workshops and short courses on painting to adults and children. Fay has moved from realist style towards abstract impressionism trying to capture the Australian light and beauty of the shifting cloudscapes. Fay is currently employed full time as a Diversional Therapist Artist at a residential Aged Care facility utilizing her art teaching and creativity to assist elderly persons gain greater enjoyment from everyday life.
